Suddenly, you see many people join your network, and fortunately, in your downline. Such people can enroll recruits just by their charisma – just a phone call or text message is enough to do that! You should never get worried once you are done with your warm market; you should always venture into the cold market and not shy away from thinking about approaching them or what you will offer them. Cold Market is Endless – You will Never Fall Short of People!

After you do your groundwork and make an informed decision to finalise your Direct Selling company, you finally then step into the world of MLM. Initially, you have a list of contacts known to you – it could be your friends, relatives, or colleagues. However, once you are through with them, you could sense a void in your business. You need not fear; the cold market is huge and endless – you could meet people when you visit your bank, or a restaurant, or a mall that is usually crowded. Further, many companies sell data lists that are legal, verified and updated. You can obtain customized ones depending on your requirement based on gender or age or demography or buying history, etc.

Whether you meet unknown people or obtain data lists from data providers, all these prospects are your cold prospects. Earlier, you felt a shortage of people to converse with, but exploring to attract and converse with these prospects gives you a good opportunity to increase your base. And now that you have something to offer, there is always a reason to approach them. The problem with many is how to approach cold prospects. The following sections discuss that.

There are chances that you will avoid interacting with your cold market when you have just entered and new to the Direct Selling concept. You could meet someone while travelling long distance in public transport or have interaction in a restaurant; there are always rules that you need to bear in mind how to converse with your cold prospects, some of them we discuss below. The following sequence of interaction can go a long way in closing a deal with your cold contact.

01. Never Discuss Business in First Meeting with Cold Prospects

Once you meet someone in a public place or public transport whom you do not know, and a conversation initiates with them – either from your end or theirs, you should avoid throwing your sales pitch at them and even avoid giving them any brochures or other material to glance over. After all, no one would be interested in investing in a company that they do not know, and further, you are still a stranger to them!! How can anyone believe and trust you in the first meeting? Instead, it would help if you analysed their profession, dreams or gauge whether they are interested in utilizing their spare time.

02. After Conversing and Before Departing, Ask for their Contact Details

Now that you have initiated the conversation with cold prospects and taken care not to divulge your business dealings, you need to get their information and contact details because you have intentions to take your business forward by sitting and discussing with them again.

03. After a Week, Invite them over a Cup of Coffee or Lunch

It would be best if you met your cold prospect in a different environment than where you met them initially. Discuss different topics on life, hobbies, profession, and keep the conversation going so that you could invite them even in another environment next time. All this will enable you to know more about them along with creating trust for you.

04. Once You Have Created a Trust, Build a Relationship

Having interacted with your prospect in several environments, complimented them for their little achievements, derived their contact details, the stage is then perfectly set up – it has helped you build trust. Finally, you are ready to build a relationship with them!

 It is now that you can reveal and discuss your MLM business or Direct Selling business. You now know each other well, and the comfort levels are high – it only means that the chances of selling a few products to them or enrolling them as a recruit are bright.
