Use and Love What You’re Selling

Be Persistent

Direct sales people often describe their job this way: “Help five people get eight people, and you’ll get a free car.” But it doesn’t work quite like that. You’re not told that you will need to talk to at least 50 people for the five people, and you will need to help them talk to at least 80 people each for the eight people. The point is, if you’re looking for your “yeses,” you’re going to get a lot of “nos,” which can be discouraging. But failure is part of the process of establishing a successful home business.. Buying into a business opportunity may mean that you need to follow rules and restrictions. Read and understand your company’s marketing and compensation plans, as well as its policies and procedures. Inexperienced salespeople call on one or two prospects before quitting. A retail establishment will lose money for a long time before it starts to see repeat customers. The majority of your business will eventually come from repeat orders. Your success will directly correlate with how hard you work. Any worthwhile endeavor requires effort.

Be yourself.

People imagine a successful salesperson as having an outgoing personality and hailing from the trenches. If they aren’t the image of what they imagine a successful person is like, they try to imitate them. He turned to selling out of desperation when he lost his job and needed an income to support his family. One of our most successful salespeople is a man who hadn’t sold anything before joining us. The first two calls were terrifying and he wasn’t sure he had the courage to make them. He didn’t like to wear a jacket or tie so he wore his everyday clothes. “When you act your natural self, you’ll succeed.” When you act like yourself, you’ll be successful.
